Manus

General-purpose autonomous agent that researches, browses, codes and delivers complete results.

About Manus

Manus is a general-purpose autonomous AI agent developed by Monica.im that can independently research topics, write code, browse the web, manage files, and deliver complete, polished results on multi-step tasks — without requiring step-by-step human guidance. It represents the emerging category of “closed-loop” AI agents that can handle complex tasks from start to finish rather than assisting with individual steps.

When you assign Manus a task — summarize competitive landscape in my industry, build me a web scraper for this site, research and compile a report on this topic, or set up a project with this specification — it breaks the task into sub-steps, uses a browser and code interpreter to execute them, iterates when it encounters obstacles, and delivers a finished artifact: a document, a codebase, a dataset, or a report.

What differentiates Manus from conversational AI assistants is its tool use and persistence. It can open a browser and actually read websites, execute Python code and handle errors, create and modify files, and chain these capabilities together across a multi-step plan. For research-heavy tasks that would take hours of manual work, Manus can compress this into minutes of autonomous execution.

The agent operates in a sandboxed cloud environment, so code execution and file operations happen safely without touching your local machine. Results are delivered through the Manus interface and can be downloaded or shared.

Manus gained significant attention when it was positioned as a direct competitor to OpenAI’s deep research and agent products, demonstrating strong performance on complex multi-step benchmarks. Access is currently via invitation or waitlist, with pricing through a credit-based system that scales with the complexity and duration of tasks.
